Multiple HDHomeRuns

Team,
I have a quick question/clarification, does Plex support multiple HDHomeRuns? I need more tuners to record so I am thinking to get another prime. Please let me know. Thanks

Yes, depending on version. Loaded 1.9.4 this morning and was able to record across 2 HDHR devices successfully for two different timeframes. Will see how it handles tonight with Prime Time Shows Recording.

Yes you can add multiple HDHomeRun devices to Plex DVR. I have 2 HDHomeRun Connects wired up to the same antenna using a coax splitter, giving me 4 OTA tuners.

Yes it does. There was an issue with earlier versions of PLEX server (as mentioned in response above) where it would only record two shows when there was 2 HDHomeRuns present (i.e. 4 tunners total) but it is fixed now with latest builds of PMS (fixed in Plex Media Server 1.9.3). Note: The HDHomeRuns must be of the same type (refer to Plex documentation).

Yes it did! I really appreciate the quick response!

Keep on mind that I have HDHomeRun prime with cable card so I guess this shouldn’t make a difference still right? (Same type) What I am saying is 2 primes = 6 tuners then 4 or 5 simultaneous recording which is what I am trying to accomplish here.

Thanks again for the help

Yes, that’s correct… the latest version of PMS brought multiple tuner support when they are the same type (OTA and OTA, cable and cable). You should be fine with 2 Primes and you do get to combine all the tuners across both devices to use, so you can record more programs at the same time, or combine scheduled recordings with Live TV. With 6 tuners, unless you run into local networking issues, you should be fine recording 4-5 shows simultaneously. Enjoy!
