So I have two HdHomeruns. Plex sees both. However when I record four shows only one of the tuners fires up. If I delete the tuner that is not hot and add it back in and then tell Plex to record it will pick up that recording but no new recordings.
Is this something Plex knows about and is maybe work g on for those of us with multiple tuners?
There have been issues with certain levels of the Plex servers being able to utilize all tuners from both hdhomerun units. I started trying to use the DVR feature with one of the first 1.7.x releases of the server and had a problem where a Plex would use the tuners from only one of my hdhomerun Primes. At that time my tuners were also on a 2016 version of the firmware. It appears that these problems started with Plex server software past 1.6.1 I believe.
For me - starting with the 1.8. Levels of Plex server and with the latest firmware updates available for the hdhomerun Primes I no longer seem to have the issue. I am not certain if it was the Plex server update or the firmware updates or combination of both that fixed the issue for me but now I am able to have all 6 tuners going running combinations of live tv and dvr scheduled recordings. Platform that the server is running on could also be a contributor to the problem. In my case my Plex server is running on Linux Centos 7 64 bit distribution.
I should point out that there are reports of people still having issues with latest Plex server software levels - I.e. 1.8.x so it seems that other factors are involved with this issue.
My suggestion would be to make sure you are on latest Plex server software level and probably just as important the latest firmware level for you hdhomerun - you should be able to update the firmware if you are not current through their browser interface. Make sure to update both units to the same firmware level.
On some systems there is an issue with Plex using tuners on multiple devices. I have 2 Connects, 1 Prime, and 1 Dual. Currently only have the 2 Connects configured in Plex DVR. On version 1.6.1 I have no problems recording on all 4 tuners. With 1.7.0 I experienced issues with using 2 second Connects tuner, 1.7.1, 1.7.2, 1.7.3, 1.7.4, and 1.7.5 all experienced the same issue. When I installed 1.7.6 to test it out I discovered I could use all tuners again, when 1.8.0 was released still had no problem. Then when 1.8.1 was released I started having the problem again. So same system with the same tuners can have issues with different versions of Plex.
I have provided logs and some other config information and a Plex Ninja figured out what he believes is the problem, forwarded to Plex who has replicated the problem and is working on a resolution. We just don’t know when the issue will be resolved. For the time being I am back on version 1.6.1 to ensure I can utilize all of my tuners.

If every time HDHOMERUN updates their firmware it breaks the Plex DVR that’s going to be sad.
updated the HDHOMRUNs to Version 20170815 and rebooted the system

Did a “repair” on the Plex install on the Windows 10 system I have it running on and rebooted the system

I tried it on a Raspberry PI install too and do not think they’re going to be an option.
I get the " HTTP: rejecting request from - all tuners in use" on the last tuner added to Plex.
if I DELETE one of the HDHomeRuns from the PlexDVR then add it back in the recording picks it up.
If I tell Plex to record after re-adding the HDHomeRun the recording fails.
Guess I’ll just keep hanging out until some version winds up working. Probably a pretty neat feature some day.
It is important to keep this thread alive. I have had no success with multiple tuners and now am on Version 1.9.6.4385.
I have 2 HD HomeRun Primes. All recordings fail on the second tuner. Either tuner works fine by itself in Plex. I can stream from all 6 at the same time on the HDHR app. I hope the Plex people know about this!
This thread is done as is the issue - as of like 1.94 I’m able to record on 9 tuners (3 HDHomerun Primes) at once and every other person that was experiencing the issue has reported the same afaik . . .

Really? As of 1.9.6, it still fails for me as described in my previous post.
@scottleslie Would probably need logs to see if a reason can be determined. I have been able to utilize all tuners in my setup since 1.9.3.
Who wants what logs? On my network this still doesn’t work.
Nothing fancy, just an old laptop running Windows 10 with the latest version of Plex.
