Hi all!
Recently migrated to Plex from iTunes and had a few suggestions for upgrades to the playlist capabilities, ranked in order of what I’d consider would have the “widest” appeal:
- Sort options for playlists: the default playlist views don’t show any of the metadata fields (ratings, play counts) nor can you even sort by artists, title etc. If you’ve got deep playlists (most of mine are 150+ songs), it locks you with playing playlists in either their default order or on shuffle.
I think a good first step would be to add in more of the metadata to the default view of the songs in a playlist, and then being able to sort by all visible fields (just as you would in the Music Library) would be ideal for many. Right now, the simple drag and drop re-ordering isn’t scalable for large playlists.
-
Merging/allowing for multi-select track migration in the playlist view - if I’m in the Playlist view and I decide I want to add 5 songs from this playlist to another, there’s no way to actually do that unless I find those songs in the library, or I press play on them and then use the in-context menu. Similarly, if you’ve recently imported a bunch of playlists, sometimes you get duplicates or you simply decide to combine a couple - there’s no way to either combine them, or do a mass drag-and-drop of those tracks into the new playlist.

Deleting from Android app: I don’t believe you can delete tracks from a Playlist on the Android app. Quite a simple one, but might be useful to be able to maintain playlists when you’re remote.

Would be great to have filters if you have multiple playlists, e.g. “only show playlists containing ___ [genre, artist etc.]”. I have 50+ playlists and having the capability to filter through playlists to find relevant choices would be great for those in a similar situation. I guess this then becomes a pre-cursor to “Smart Playlists”.
Thanks!
