Requested improvements to Playlists and Music Library interfaces

Would it be possible to incorporate these features into playlists and/or the Music Library interface:

  1. in the playlists interface, adding selectors such as Artist, Album, Track like you have in the Music Library interface.

  2. in playlists sorting ascending/descending by column heading like you can in the Music Library interface based on Artist, Album, or Track

  3. in the playlist interface, adding an alphabetized selector bar (like you have in the Music Library interface)

  4. allow for importing and exporting of playlists.

  5. an option to play two or more playlists or music artists / albums at the same time but shuffle all tracks between the selections (for example, if I have a playlist with all Peter Gabriel songs, another with Phil Collins songs, and a third with all Genesis songs - being able to shuffle all songs from all three playlists at the same time - or adding this ability within the Music library interface by selecting multiple Artists to play shuffled).

There are existing feature requests for most of these, easily found with a simple search. Also, you really should only post one suggestion per topic, as noted in the pinned announcement. With several ideas in one post, voting becomes harder.

For number 5, you can do this with a smart playlist. Just use the Custom Filter to create the following, and add to playlist:

Thanks for the tip on #5

Sorry for posting everything in one post but I posted this all as one as it all had to do with improving the playlists interface and seemed to all relate to one topic/idea.

if you want an always random smart playlist, see @ [TIP] [MUSIC] --- how to create an autoplaylist with random sort

Early 2021 clean-up:

  1. duplicate → Allow album-based view for music playlists
  2. duplicate → Playlist sorting and searching feature request
  3. subject to #2
  4. possible w/ 3rd party apps
  5. partly available w/ custom filter; partly duplicate (filter by membership to a certain playlist)
