Love the app! Playing HD stuff the quality is amazing not more Airplay to apple TV's.
I have a few xbone's s in the house and I am constantly asked to keep entering a PIN number to authenticate and not sure why this is. (www.plex.tv/pin)
Maybe its how i've setup mutiple users/xboxs, I'm not sure which way i should setup my xbox live accounts to be best suited with Plex in its current form.
At present I have the Lounge room TV set to be my home xbox (makes sure anyone can play anything they want on it that i own) and my Media rooms TV's xbox set to autosignin, my bedroom xbone is also set to autosignin.
When i walk in front of any xbox and get signed in Plex always says it cant find the media server, i then close the app and start it again and get the enter PIN number to connect to server.
Appreciate any input on the best setup for multiple Xbones as I plan to get a couple more.
My Plex/Plex Pass user account can only be associated to one XBL account. So if your signing into each Xbox with a different account, then that is why it keeps asking you for a pin (each time you enter the pin, you move the account association from one XBL account to the new one). If you were to sign in to each Xbox only using the same XBL account, it would never ask you for a pin because it is already associated to your account.
I have 3 Xbox One's and no problems with this. But you must know, that a single XBL account can only be logged in at one Xbox One at a single given moment. So it's impossible for you to login to all 3 xbox one's at the same time. Each time you login to a different one, it will log you out of the other Xbox. This is by design and how it should work.
Thanks for taking the time to reply RandomNingaAtk, are you saying yours works because you only have 1 XBL account and don't have anyone else living with you that wish to use plex while you do?
So at this point in time with the current version as it is, I can not watch Plex in my media room (signed into my XBL) while my daughter watches Plex (signed into her XBL).

Im currently using a single plex pass account with 2 xbox ones with different users signed into those xbox ones at any given time. Theres a bug in this version of the plex app that sometimes logs you out, causing you to have to reactivate your plex app with a pin.

Well there isn't really a fix, until they change the app or release it for purchase. I have multiple user accounts and multiple Xbox's. But I have signed up my Fiance for her own Plex Pass subscription, so this gave her access to Plex on Xbox One and this keeps her own separate watched status/history.
You need 1 Plex.tv account + Plex Pass Subscription per XBL account. So you could add a generic kids/guest account (anyone can log into) if you have multiple children and have a secondary Account/subscription tied to it. But only 1 XBL account can be logged into at any time. Otherwise I would suggest having a generic account anyone can use and tie it to your plex account. But this would screw up your watched/status history and would still only let you use it on one xbox at a time. However, you can login to the same XBL account on a 360 and Xbox One at the same time. So it would be possible to have the same user using it in 2 locations at the same time, but that would require one person on Xbox One and one person on an Xbox 360.
Obviously none of this is ideal ideal because it means your having to pay for another account. But I guess I'd rather pay for Plex access then netflix, but I have never really used netflix that much because Verizon screws with the connection making it terrible.
This will no longer be an issue when Plex hits full release and you are able to buy the App. That way a subscription won't be needed, just purchase the app. Or if they do something else to make it easier for families/multiple users.
Yea... that is stupid.... i should pay for Live on several accounts and pay for ticket on each of those...
Dam time to go back to XBMC and my mac Mini (s)....
No this is not an issue that is solved by costing me money because the coed is not right... I am asking that the code be done right... maybe it is time to remove the limitation of the xbox client knowing that the server is required ... and that is only available on the plex pass.. plus... my media is local... and i am streaming local... so in all do respect doesnt the plex server show direct content.. like in windows... hmmm
so please dont post a work around that is to fix what is broken... and needs to be resolved.
You don't need to be so angry, I just tried to help by providing solutions to make it work in its current state, whether you think it's right or wrong is a personal opinion. Also, you would not need to pay for Live on several accounts. Gold is not required, that requirement was removed earlier this year. All apps are available to all users, but the user must be using a Xbox Live account (not local) meaning, Xbox Live Silver or Gold account.
So if you created a Random GamerTag (Xbox Live Silver) for Plex use, you would connect that account via PIN to your Plex pass account. Then you could add that account to all of your Xbox's and anyone on any Xbox could login to that account to stream your Plex content.
If you wanted each member to have their own watch status/history. Then you would need each user to be a Plex Pass subscriber for now, at least until they either:
