There a bug where it doesn’t create a smart collection but instead creates a smart playlist.

Music - create smart collection → album title: dune ( = playlist NOT collection)

It’s easily repeatable.

For the record I am using audiobooks but it will do the same regardless (as plex doesn’t know its an audiobook)

Logs are in this file (are too much text to copy & paste in here.

Screenshots of the bug here:

Step 1 - click create smart collection

Step 2 - Match - album title = dune.
Click save as.

Step 3 - name the smart collection.

Step 4 - It shows the smart collection results only now it is a ‘playlist’

Step 5 - We can confirm the bug by visiting collections and seeing no smart collection there as they have the cog wheel icon.

Step 6 - Next we click onto playlists and can see a wealth of ‘smart playlists’ denoted by the cog wheel icon.

Between steps two and three, instead of clicking “Save As,” click the down-arrow beside it:

Then select “Save as Smart Collection” from the options.

The default action of save as is to create a smart playlist. The wording of the initial creation dialog could arguably be improved. But now you know.

Ok thanks.
Could do with a fix up as step 1 is ‘create smart collection’.

Instead of clicking the arrow next to save as it should just chose the output based on the original step 1 input.

Really it should mirror the function of tv & film libraries which then makes your lives easier too as its a single code base and the only hing that changes is it being mp3’s and no chapter or thumbnail generation needed.
