Thanks to a power supply issue on my server I’ve had to move my installation to my gaming laptop until I can replace/repair.
Anyways, since the switch, I have several music artists that have “lumped” all albums into just one album. I have always followed the naming convention of Artist - Album - Track # - Song Title. and just put all titles in under the music artist folder.
On the “disabled” server I did not have any issues finding the correct metadata for my Artists and Albums.
I have tried separating each Album into its own folders under the Artists name but have not had any luck in the “lumping” separating into its individual “Albums”. (After “Rescanning Library files” of course).
What am I doing wrong as there seems to be a “newer” formatting convention.
I’ve @'d Otto as I know he seems to be the guru on these things, if it actually tagged him.
Thanks for replying @OttoKerner. I only jump on the forums when I have time to spend diagnosing my Plex issues. So in reality not often. Thou I rarely have issues except for what I have posted in the past. My Music Plex library is only pointed to the folder you mentioned, and have tested a few artists by separating their albums into separate sub folders. Still no luck at getting them separated even with the “Plex Dance”. Next step is to try just adding each album at a time to see if Plex’s “scrobbler”? will find and separate. Dunno if that’s the correct term but…Anyways, if you have anything else that might help, please advise.
Just tried “prefer embedded meta tags” and didn’t see a difference. So to answer your question, it was off.
My selected folder “Selected Music by Group or Artist” has only mp3’s that I have verified/edited to have the correct metadata as listed from Wikipedia using the app “Freac”. So yes, they are all tagged with the same album artist.
