Probably nothing you did wrong, you could have been bitten by a transient bug, or had leftover metadata which was renewed and corrected upon refresh.
Glad to hear you got rid of those annoying numbered genres!

One more question for you, Elan⦠Why is there not an option to write to the tags on music like most other music library software? Allmusic.com metadata is my favorite source and I wish I could have Plex write the genre info directly to the tags.
Thanks again for your helpā¦
Philosophically weāve just never wanted to modify peopleās media files, opens up a can of worms and potential for damage.
There are a few good third party tools (MusicBrainz EInstein, Yate) that will tag your audio files with this data in a way that Plex sees and honors the matching. Iād highly recommend these for trying to manage metadata within the files themselves vs just the Plex DB

Iāve tried MusicBrainz Picard and I think thatās where a lot of the funky numbered genres came from

Youāre missing the one and all important genre: 42
Jokes aside, I have seen the number genre problem too (and it used to be much worse.)
Curious to know what album lives in ā42ā?
Donāt ask me how or why. But if anyone has a short and succinct conspiracy theory behind the āLord Willināā album being tagged as ā42ā, I am all ears. ![]()
Probably metadata tags in one or more of the files on that album.
Elan! Long time no see virtual friend! I did a full library refresh after posting and let the meta data refresh ā all is well. No more weird numbers in the genre section. Thank you for taking the time to write us!

Glad to hear!
