Unfortunately, I do not know how to decipher logs. I was running into this problem with my SHIELD Server. I wanted to honestly run my server off it but with repairing a database, I simply abandon it and went with my iMac.
The fact that you did all of this and it is running into these issues makes me think its a computer issue. Do you run a lot of processes on your computer at all or is this a dedicate PLEX computer?
I would run a clean up problem on your computer. I use CCleaner to make sure you don’t have a computer running slowly.
Aside from that, I can only imagine it could be a computer issue because if you uninstall removing every aspect of PLEX and then re-adding it, then it cannot be PLEX.
I have the same problem when scanning my music. My music library is managed by iTunes and it’s with the iTunes organisation (normally artist / album / song,… for compilations compilation / album / song ), with all the tags correctly defined. Even though the Plex Music Scanner has beed running for already a month and still does not recognise most of the music. The folder structure & naming was exactly the same as it was in a previous Plex Server Version that worked fine, so that I believe the problem is not in my music folder & names.
I’ve also tried to start with fewer items (i.e. a subfolder with just music from Led Zeppelin) and it takes time but it works, but when I try to scan my complete music folder it eternizes. I’ve even uncheck all the extra options of the Music Scanner leaving only the “Use embedded tags” option but happens the same.
Also it’s curious because I’ve found that most of music it scans are from the compilations folder (i.e. “Billboard Top Hits of 1985”) that definitely does not match the proposed naming structure (Artist/Album/…).
This is a bug in Plex that they refuse to fix. It has to do with the server end not letting you search anything in the “Album Artist” Tag of the file. There are posts about this from literally 3-5 years ago but they have never fixed the issue.
Cancel your Plex Pass and use another product like emby.
Plex does not care about you or your music. They’re just trying to take your money and get you to buy a subscription to Tidal (which they likely get a kickback from).
