That’s something I rather not explore and just use Nvidia Shield as just another client, not a server.
The device itself has too many limitations, especially technical ones, that make it difficult to fix a database. While having a Plex Media Server on just a computer versus a Nas, Nvidia Shield or router, seems like a no brainer, Plex needs to determine how could building a server on anything besides a computer could possibly work, again especially with technical issues.
If I wanted to fix the database or report it, the folders aren’t as accessible to get to versus Windows or Mac and then the issue could be resolved.
Plex needs to take 2019 as a redemption year to fix significant flaws in its service. Without doing this, it’s slowly and unfortunately looking rather bloated rather than simple. I and all users would love a service that has as less issues with the implication of the service as possible.
Plex will be excellent when it can fix significant parts of its service. I would eliminate beta testing and create fully fleshed out versions of features on clients. Why does music always have to be a problem? I’ve rebuilt my large library several times already. Plex shouldn’t be experimental for the user, it should simply work.
There have been positives which include a redo of this forums which is more modern and attentive when moderators feel like helping. Honestly, the moderators on the forums, if you’re not as attentive to the lifetime Plex Pass subscribers and/or paying Plex Pass subscribers about valid concerns, it makes what we’re investing in seem quite awful.
@trumpy81 , I value the help you’ve provided. I really do, but the team members and moderators on Plex just simply don’t care about paying subscribers. We can’t call a phone number for technical support. Everything is web-based for support. We expect better and I’m hoping for Plex to do better in the new year.
My apologies for the small rant, but these comments needed to be expressed.
