When is plex metadata going to get fixed for music?
I would also like to see the plex music metadata fixed it takes forever to scan and it is missing album artwork even though the scanning agent like last.fm has cover art.
Anyone?
You’re going to have to be a lot more specific. What issues are you experiencing? Can you provide some steps on how to reproduce these issues?
Music Library keeps showing duplicates I’ve done so many things to try and fix this but nothing has worked.
My folder structure (the reason it shows “server” thats because i use docker)
Anyone?
What have you done to try and fix this? iTunes has the same issue fixes with album artist, haven’t tried on plex
Any updates on this?
It’s been my experience when you have duplicates like this it’s because either the meta tags inside the file are not consistent throughout.
The other thing is maybe the folder structure isnt the way Plex expects to see it.
You can try to clean up the meta tags inside your music files by using a tagger app of your choice and make sure the artist name is spelled exactly the same in each, and try changing your folder structure just a little bit to;
Music2 / A$AP Rocky / A$AP Rocky - Album Title / 00 - SongName.ext
Changing the folders just a little bit where you put the album artist name then a dash then the name of the album really helps Plex . Give it try on one album and see if that helps.
What app should i use?
Tagging software is really personal preference you may or may not like one over the other. And you should try a few of them if you can. I used a couple but now I only use Musicbrainz Picard.
Its a free app that works with Musicbrainz Musibrainz Picard Download Page.
It’s a bit intimidating at first to use. And it takes a bit to get used to and understand how it works. So you will have to be patient with it. But once you get the hang of it. Its a really nice tool.
I recommend you make a copy of a few files and test out picard on those files first before you go into messing with your music library. I learned that lesson the hard way.
