Music playback stops after a few seconds

I'm running into a problem playing music back using PlexConnect.  I've got a large music library which plays back fine on other Plex clients.  When I try to play back music using PlexConnect, I get between 5-8 seconds of playback and then it errors out.  I know the music experience is 'experimental.'  But has anyone else run into something like this (and hopefully solved it?) I turned the debug log to high but didn't see anything particularly interesting.

Thanks!

I don't have this issue personally using the latest commit (version):

Same problem with PMS (0.9.12.0) --> PlexConnect (v 0.5) --> Apple TV 3 (A1427, Software 7.2).  PMS and PlexConnect are installed in separate freenas jails.

ITunes lossless (ALAC) files occasionally play correctly but usually only about 10 seconds, then skip to next track.  When they play correctly, the player stops and does not play the next track.  The files play correctly on Denon AVR1913 DLNA and the Plex web player.

Album is in lossless compression m4a.  None of the songs show remaining time, just -0.00.  Some key events in the log plus/minus a few seconds:

20:59:48 first song starts, plays completely, then stops and player does not start next song

21:03:50 manual start of second song, plays only about 11 seconds

21:04:03 next song auto starts, plays about 6 seconds

21:04:10 next song auto starts, plays over a minute, then stops early

21:05:29 next song auto starts

Soon thereafter I shut PlexConnect down to get the log file

Same issue here across multiple AppleTVs, all hitting the same, local PlexConnect server. Issue happens ever since I've created a premium music library. I've deleted the library multiple times, and created both basic and premium libraries since then, and the same issue continues with basic and premium. An existing basic library works fine, but any new libraries since trying to create a premium library, stop playing after a handful of seconds. Also, the same libraries (basic and premium) play fine through a web browser. MP3s seem to play fine for me, it only happens with FLAC files.

Same issue. MP3s play to completion, M4As and FLACs skip to next track after about 10 seconds.

Also found that last track in M4A or FLAC album playlist will (usually) play to completion.

Have you optimized, cleaned bundles, and emptied your trash? Sometimes this fixes a lot of strange issues with adding/removing large databases, channels and fanart errors with PlexConnect:

Thanks for the suggestion: I just tried that, and it still is broken.  ALAC's play 10 or so seconds then jump to next track.  Duration of the track on the play bar indicator (correct lingo?) still shows -0.00.  Enough users are having this issue that it must be in the software somewhere.  I'm still waiting to buy PlexPass on Plex addressing this.

BUMP! Can we please have a developer look into this issue? This is clearly some type of error with PlexConnect specifically, as my FLAC files are streamed/transcoded without issue to my Roku 3 on my network. I’m only experiencing the troubles on my 3x Apple TV (3rd Gen) w/PlexConnect when attempting to play FLAC files. Each track will play for approximately 5-10 seconds (with a track duration of -0:00) before automatically skipping to the next track.

I just installed PlexMediaServer-0.9.12.8.1362-4601e39-x86.spk to my Synology DS415+ NAS this AM, and the issues w/FLAC files is still occuring on my Apple TV 3rd Gen’s.

Extremely frustrating!

Any help would be immensely appreciated!

Im also encountering this same issue with ALACs /w latest PMS and PlexConnect. The ATV should handle ALAC natively (and does when I use Home Sharing and Computers icon).

Re-encoded everything to VBR level 0 MP3 and it works fine now but would rather just have lossless.

Any Upstate on this? Having the same issue. I have fóund that i can run plex on the iPad and listen to the FLAC files só it is definitely ATV related issue. From there i cân. AirPlay to the ATV but not sure If quality is compromissed. Probably is.

Sorry for the weird characters. My wife is foreign and set. My iPad to her language. What a ■■■■■ it was typing this!!! Lol.

Having the same problems as above music skips when played locally and either no sound or stops after 4 seconds when plated remotley

What is your PlexConnect version ? PMS is installed in which machine ? What is your “problematic” music file’s bitrate ?

There was a PlexConnect bug, partially fixed on November 2015, that prevented music play whenever bitrate was higher than 320Kbps and PMS could not transcode. The problem still exists for bitrates higher than 1000Kbps (I have modified the limit to 1500 in my own case and I’m still waiting for @baa to change the base code).

Hi, i’m using Redmi 1s. I have technical problem in my music player.the problem starts from beginning when I purchased the phone.for this reason I discussed my problem in Xiaomi service center but they don’t get the solution for this problem.
The problem is when I use the music player it’s stop for 10- 15 seconds and the sound of the song or timer of the song also stops.
For example- if song is 4 min 36 seconds, let’s assume music player stops in the middle of the song 2 min 01 seconds, then @ the same time sound goes automatically and the break is 10 to 15 seconds. And after 10 to 15 seconds it’s starts automatically and play normally as all other music player runs.
So what I do.
