Are there any 3rd party Plex tools that make creating music playlists in Plex a whole lot easier?
I’ve been using Music.app for years, going back to the iTunes era, and I much prefer how easy it is to create playlists in that app with simple drag-and-drop and being able to see all songs across multiple albums and artists at one time in a simple, image-free list.
I’d like to eventually switch over to an all FLAC library (i do not want to use ALAC for reasons I do not need or care to explain), but of course Music.app does not support it.
I’ve also considered using several other Mac apps that do support FLAC but as we all know Plex doesn’t seem to care to make importing M3U playlists a thing that is easy to do.
If any 3rd party tools exist, I would need them to support Smart Playlists AND displaying the metadata that is in the files (not what Plex via MusicBrainz wants it to be) as I have playlists that are organized by decade and year at the song level, not the album level. If an album came out in 2019 and a song from that album was later released as a single in 2020, that song will be tagged in my library as a 2020 release. In my Music.app library’s smart playlists, that song would appear in my “Music Of The 2020s” playlist as well as my “Music From The Year 2020” playlist. (I have made redundant “dumb” playlists from my Music.app smart playlists since Plex won’t import smart playlists from Music.app)
If you’ve read this far and actually followed along, do you know of anything I could use that has a UI similar in function to Music.app, meets my other criteria, and works with Plex?
