First off, I may have the wrong sub-forum…if so, please feel free to move this.
I need some help. I have the following set-up:
Plex Media Server is on a Dell Lattitude E6230 laptop, with an Intel 2nd Generation Core i3-2350M processer, 2.3 GHz speed, 4 GB RAM, and 320 GB hard drive, but that’s not as important).
All media is on a 4 TB external hard-drive, attached to a Netgear R7000 Gigabit WiFi router.
I am trying to listen to my music using Plex Player on an XBox One S.
Everything is in the house, on the same network (within about 5’ of each other, to be exact).
I have 1010 Christmas songs that I would LOVE to listen to in Random order. I have set up a Christmas Playlist. I go into the Playlist on the XBox One, hit the Random button and…
…
…
Get about 20 songs on Random. The same 20 songs. It doesn’t seem to matter whether I go in to another part of the library and play songs from there, first, or not. If I hit the Random button, I get the same 20 songs.
What am I doing wrong? For ME, the whole point of having a Playlist with a LOT of songs in it is to be able to play ALL of them. In Random order, if I want (which I usually do).
Do I need to move the hard-drive to the computer? Upgrade the computer? If maybe upgrade the computer, suggestions for something, preferably under $300, either refurbished or new, I don’t have a preference? I would really rather stick with a laptop, if possible, because I don’t need to get out a monitor to do stuff with it and I can tuck it away in a cabinet most of the time. Do I have a setting in Plex that I need to change?
THANKS!
