Music Playlists are broken

Music playlists are broken.

  1. If I select a playlist that I’ve previously played, it will not start at the beginning. If I scrub back to the beginning it will play the first song, and then skip all the other songs till the end.

  2. when playing from a playlist, if I partially play a song (skipping before the song ends), the next time I play from that playlist (after scrubbing back to the beginning - see #1) when it gets to the partially played song, it will not start the song at the beginning, but where it left off.

  3. If I select a playlist, and then directly click a song from the playlist, it will not play the song, but instead jump to the album (of that song) and start playing from the beginning of the album, ignoring the playlist completely.

  4. I cannot add a song twice onto a playlist. Occasionally I like to repeat a song in a playlist. Specially if the song is short (as an intro or extro to a section of music).

This happens when accessing my synology server with plex app from appleTV 4K, FireTV cube and from my Sonos.

It’s possible that most of these issues are caused by a setting in your library. Make sure that the “Store track progress” option is disabled in the library where the tracks are stored:

As for adding a song twice to a playlist, this is intended behavior. When playlists were first introduced, there were several conversations around this, where some wanted to allow duplicates, and some wanted to prevent duplicates. You may find a request in the Feature Suggestions forum regarding this.
