Possible Bug - 2 Songs playing simultaneously

Player Version#: Apple TV Current (March '23)

I use Plex on AppleTV. Sometimes when I’m listening to music, if I skip ahead to the next song, the prior song will continue to play. It almost sounds like a failure of ‘smooth transitions’ but I’ve not figured out a way to make it stop, other than shutting down the app and starting over.

Is there some setting that will stop this, or have I run into a genuine bug?

I’ve also got this issue, to +1 this. Thought I was going crazy hearing 2 things at once.

Any resolution or workaround for this issue? Just started using it on iOS and after a few skips it will start playing the first skipped track at the same time as the new track. Skipping again or closing down the app doesn’t stop it.

I’m still fairly new here, so I don’t know what to expect in terms of any official response. That said, I’ve not heard anything other than what you see here. So, we’re not alone, and not going crazy. Not sure if there’s a way to improve the chances of this being seen/fixed.

I also occasionally experience this issue. It happens on iOS when listening via headphones, or CarPlay. As others have noted, this happens when skipping tracks. The song skips to the next, but I can still hear the previous track quietly playing in the background.

Same with NVidia Shield app, most commonly when skipping songs in playlists.

This is happening to me on Shield and Chromecast (running off windows server in the basement).

Just want to add a me too. NVidia shield pro. Only happens when skipping music.

It used to be fine so somethings has changed “recently” although I don’t play music through plex enough to say when it started happening.

I noticed this started happening to me in the past 2 weeks on my Smart TV either when I am chromcasting the tv or playing songs directly from the tv app.

Thanks is something we are looking into. If any of you are willing to share the apple tv logs and server logs after it happens it would be appreciated.

I am using the shield and it does almost nonstop. I can not skip a song without it continuing to play the current song and the one i just selected.

sorry still looking into it. We were able to reproduce it on Android so guessing a server not a player issue

I’m experiencing the same issue since 2-3 weeks. It starts when I skip a song, then the current and new song play together.

When I pause/unpause the issue persist. When I stop/play the issue persists. When I stop/select another song the persists. The only way to remedy the situation is by rebooting the player. But as soon as a play then skip to another song, the issue is back.

This is terribly annoying as it means I can no longer skip through songs without rebooting the player after each song.

I turned off Sweet Fades, but this had 0 effect.

I also have this same issue on shield tv pro. Extremely annoying and makes plex essentially useless for playing music.
