I am paid up to plex pass for some reason, I cannot remember what now, but it was probably this fancy music scanner.
Only its not working. I have been through the server settings to check on the agents and all that jazz but the outcome is still the same, many of the artists have no information relating to them, and they are hardly obscure, such as ‘Beautiful South’, ‘Brand New Heavies’, ‘Caribou’ etc
I have rescanned and changed agents and rescanned and these artists are not being picked up. If I manually hit each one and refresh, it will twig, but there are loads to go through, and anyway if I have to do it myself, I want someone to pay me 4 quid a month.
Is there anything else to be done before I bin the concept and plex pass?
That’s weird, I usually found everything if it’s properly tagged. Did you created a new one Premium Music Library or did you use a previous one? If the answer is a previous one, unfortunately, you must create a new one.
Premium music libraries get metadata from an online service called Gracenote (Basic libraries use Last.fm). Unfortunately, I know of no easy way to find out if Gracenote has information on the albums you are having trouble with.
To give Gracenote the best chance of correctly matching your albums, you’ll need to follow the media preparation guidelines.
Personally, I gave up on Gracenote and Last.fm. Their databases are full of garbage for popular music, and they are absolutely useless for classical music. I ended up putting in a lot of work to edit the ID3 tags embedded in my music files, and told Plex to use that in preference to the online services. Haven’t had a problem with metadata since.
