Music scanner prevents other libraries from indexing

For many months now, it appears that the music scanner (sonic analysis) prevents other media libraries from updating. If I restart plex and kick off the other libraries, they will scan all the new content in, but once sonic analysis gets going for a while (hours? days?) new content cannot be scanned in. The only way to fix it is to restart plex, which involves killing the processes in Task Manager - shutting down from the tray icon won’t fully kill the PMS.
