Music streaming quality?

Hi,

Looked around a lot but can’t find the answer? Is there any way on the plex android app of setting the music streaming quality? I know the video is.

I would like to make sure the music streams as high a quality as possible.

Thanks.

I’d like to know this too. So far I have managed to get awesome performance from the Plex add on to KODI. Using PMP is definitely inferior to this in two-channel. When using PMP, my DAC shows that Plex is outputting the right stream but I am not convinced that is not being transcoded. The Windows driver is WASAPI capable and the DAC is capable of all resolutions up 192 and DoP but I think that files are not bit perfect.

think in setting/advance/remote audio quality (can choose original and bitrates)

also allow DirectPlay and DirectStream

note that you can play original quality only with flac on android … alac ape get transcoded to mp3 as android dont support it natively

if music is important to you please vote for following features (put like on first post to cast vote)

Transcode lossless unsuported format for device to lossless format that device support (eg transcode flac to alac when playing to ipad)

we only know what they tell us lol

you can tell what PMS is doing by using plex web … click on Status … Now Playing

it will show whats playing now … if you hover mouse over playing icon and click on “i” … it will tell you what PMS is doing

for example when playing flac to iphone it will say “transcoding (aac)”

if it say DirectPlay or DirectStream … stream supposed to be bit perfect … but i remember someone told me that PMP will upsample/downsample received stream to local system setting (aka it does not switch local hardware samplerate/bit depth to match received stream) … so if your system is set to 24/96 … and stream comes 16/44.1 … streams get upsampled … as i understand it

I can’t see any options for remote quality. There are options for video playback but nothing on audio only.

Any other ideas?

I can’t be the only person with an android phone who has asked is their streaming quality controls for music.
