Music track titles missing (not shown) for part of the library

After ensuring all songs in my music collection have near perfect and comprehensive ID3 tags (version 2.3 with embedded art) and a folder structure in compliance with Plex’s posts there is a bug that all the plex clients (tested for Tizen, Android TV (Sshield) or android mobile phones) will not show the track listing for some albums, although they are perfect in the Plex server side. It seems to occur mostly for albums that are not popular (e.g. local South African content or those that are not usually found when trying to “match” it). I hae local Media Assets on for albums

The main issue is that the clients apps will not have track names when selecting the album

For example Laurika Rauch Album “Die reis” looks as follow on the server:

On the client it is displayed as :

When you list all tracks in the music database (45 000) the track for example (no 5 with the 4 star rated) the title “ek het” will be in the list as a blank place holder with only the artist’s name showing. If you search on the client for the “missing” track it does find it. If you select play it will start playing, but on the screen the title section will be empty yet in the search results it did show momentarily.

List of tracks sorted alphabetically at the “problem song” with title “ek het” on the server:

Clearly there in the right order and displayed correctly.

List of music collection tracks (sorted alphabetically) at the approxiate location where the song with title “ek het” should be on the client:

In the same image we some two other songs that also do not have there track titles displayed, whilst others on the page has.

I cleared the data and the cache on the client apps, used refreshed metadata on the server side with no improvement. Please help sort out this bug.

it is clear I am not the only one with the problem given the same issue is reported by “uberrob” on a different forum about 9 months ago:

Numerous songs have blank titles in Plex, but they have complete metadata tags

I found a work-around that helps resolve the issue per music album. On the server side interface select the album options by clicking the lower right 3 dot overlay button and select “unmatch”. Immediately the track titles reappears for the clients.

This behavior (removing track titles imported via ID3 tags for none found/available albums on last.fm) is unexpected as local medial assets is ranked higher than last.fm (which cannot be unsellected) in the agents for the library. A clear software bug not honouring the selection.

The work around is only partial is that will you have to manually unmatched each individual album that has this issue. The challenge is to find all the relevant albums in a collection of 4600! Futhermore, the release date (that is embedded in the ID3 tag data gets lost and the system uses the default 1969-12-31 release date. That also required manual correction to correct. Even refreshing metadat does not correct it.
