I recently converted all my music from FLAC to 256K AAC. Still have the FLACs. But they’re backed up. I’m using the AAC files for everyday playback. When I use Plex on my iPhone or on the web, as the files being passed through to the client, or are they being re-encoded to MP3?
So, I fired up my Plex client on my iPhone and told it to use Original as my Remote Audio Quality setting.
I then go and play a 256K AAC file and Plex web shows the file as "Transcoding Audio Transcode (AAC). Why is it transcoding, if I told it to use the original audio quality?
Is there way to get Plex music to NOT transcode my music and just play it as is?
You cannot fore Plex to not transcode if it needs to. The bugger question is why does Plex think it needs to transcode AAC to AAC. Please provide the iOS log after playing back one of these files. Also provide the XML for the track you played.
