I have been getting a problem with mp2_encoder.dll and mp3_encode.dll virus warnings for the past couple days which have been locking down Plex and requiring me to quarantine then restart to get it going again. Is anyone else having the same issue? Seems to happen at random intervals, once yesterday and again just now.
I have Plex ver 1.25.0.5282 and am running Avira Antivirus
IMO get rid of that software. Under the assumption that you are running Windows, built in Windows Defender is great unless you are digging deep into the underbelly of the internet, or don’t have the self control to stop yourself from downloading sketchy shiz.
So there is no known issues with those two codecs? I can just tell Avira to ignore them if so. That pc literally runs plex only and nothing else. No web browsing, no other software except bare necessities.
I’ve had Avira for years and plex as well, and this is the first time it’s brought up the “issue”
I don’t believe you have anything to worry about. The reason I said to get rid of that software is mostly because Windows Defender is really quite good now, and third party virus software can sometimes make some really boneheaded decisions. I ran third party stuff on my machine for years until someone that I really look up to told me that they were all a scam and Windows Defender will do everything they do and more for free. Never had a problem since I switched nearly a decade ago.
