I am using Plex Server Version 4.84.1. I create collections like James Bond Movies or Actors’ names. They will be there for a while then all of a sudden some of them are no longer there. The image and the name for the collection are there but it may say O or maybe 1 in the collection. Why does this keep changing?
Are your media files per chance stored on a networked or external drive? If so, you should make sure the option below is disabled:
Plex periodically scans your library for updates. If the storage drive is asleep or inaccessible during that scan, Plex thinks the media on that drive is gone. If the option above is enabled, Plex will remove the media from the Plex library(ies).
Thank you. Yes, my drive is external and it was checked. Allow Media deletion was checked too. Is that so I can delete TV shows after I have watched them? I did unchecked Allow Media deletion.
The Allow Media Deletion option enables the server admin’s ability to delete any item in your local media library from Plex and the storage drive. So nothing to do with Plex’s online offerings - your own movies, music albums, TV shows. I’ve only ever turned that option on for testing it. I leave it off most of the time, as I prefer to use the OS file manager to manage the actual files.
