Good find gigi, not that it bothered me much anyway.
My unpinned libraries are in alphabetical (or numerical) order after the 1.21.2.3939
update.
Iāve tried resetting and a number of other things and Iām still showing the default as library type first and then alphabetical. Movies alphabetically, then TV Shows alphabetically. Still not combined together, which I would prefer.
Same thing here, using 1.21.2.3939, already did the reset as suggested, did all the the testing changing the names and such and still itās sorted by TYPE first on unpinned.
Itās good to hear the update worked at least for some people. Not for me yet though.
@YouShallNotPlex:
EDIT: The above comment was after update, but I just shut down the server and started it back up to see if that would help. And now the list is in TYPE then ALPHABETICAL order.
I would still prefer to be able to change the order of these as I see fit to organise my own server, but this is still 1000% better than it was.
Also @Gigi the instruction you posted is for Pinned/Home List, which isnāt the list weāre having problems with. We are in the section found if you click āMoreā from your Pinned/Home.
Yep, the fix
was to change it from
library type then id
to
library type then alphabetical
Unless they take any notice of the user feedback (which I would say is probably unlikely) and reconsider then this is the way it will be going forward.
Not happy about it, but what can you do⦠itās just more of Plex dictating how our media should be orderedā¦

I know. The user I quoted mentioned the home page, hence why I shared those instructions. The unpinned ones are sorted with the new update (as you mention).
I know right? Itās all kind of ludicrous.
No one said sorting by type had changed. Just that they libraries are at least in alphabetical order eithin the library type.
Your whole sentence above says otherwise, but ok. Alphabetical by type is working since the previous version and I called that. I thought the whole point of this topic is getting the whole unpinned library in alphabetical despite the type like it was for ages, but if that type of sorting is working for you, good, but itās definitely not working for me.
Sorting by type isnāt ideal but probably by design so Plex is unlikely to change it. Plex knows whatās best for us.
My point was, at least the libraries are sorted correctly within the type.
A new version (1.21.2.3943) was released 1 day later) after the previous one; however I still have the same issue of my libraries not being alphabetical.
Iām I missing something? I can sort by type???
@YouShallNotPlex I had to shut down the server software completely and then start it up again before the alphabetical sort order showed up.
LOL ā¦I hope this was sarcasm or irony.
@vvw1970 Iām shutting down the server then relaunching and its still messed up. What Iām I doing wrong?
@YouShallNotPlex I honestly donāt know what else to suggest - other than perhaps a full reboot.
Bummer, I fully rebooted and its still the same. Is anyone else still having issues of their libraries not being alphabetized?
Check that you have no leading space characters at the start of your library names - these can affect the sort order.
Conversely, you can purposely use leading spaces to manipulate the order - except for the initial ordering by type which Plex have now imposed on usā¦
I learned that this is being sorted by:
- Type of Library > Title of library
Which explains why my libraries as a whole are not alphabetized. Still find it hard to believe this is not back to normal alphabetization and NOT based on type of library (movies, music, tv shows, etc.)
I wish Plex would just let us know why it was done.
With the multiple Recently Added rows Plex says, hang on, itāll make sense someday. They canāt do that for every goofy change can they?
