My Music/TV Shows/Movies Aren't Showing Up

Hi Elan,



I’m having difficulty with a folder containing movies on an NFS mount.



The folder has 443 subdirectories of movies in it, but only some of them are recognised by the scanner. For all the rest I get a message saying it’s taking the directory out of the map, but then it just moves straight on to the next one:

EDIT: Just realised the ones that fail have the movie split into multi-part RAR files within the folders. So it looks like the RAR files are the problem, after some thought and further searches of the forums.

Though built-in RAR support would be great to bring back. Pretty please?

Last night I added

“Desperate Housewives S07E03.mkv” to the Desperate Housewivies–>Season 3 folder

AND

“Dexter S05E03.mkv” to Dexter–>Season 5 folder

AND

“The Simpsons S22E03.mkv” to the The Simpson (1989)–>Season 22 folder



I forced a manual scan by clicking the bottom right circular arrow on the PMS for my TV Shows.

The Simpsons scanned correctly, however ALL Desperate Housewives and Dexter episodes have completely disappeared from the TV Shows section in the PMS.



I deleted Dexter and Desperate Housewives, re-scanned, both TV Shows still missing.



I then deleted the Simpsons S22E03, re-scanned, both TV Shows still missing, HOWEVER PMS then found at least 6 TV Shows that were missing (I missed that they were deleted from the PMS) but re-added them.



Any advice would be greatly appreciated…

I’m missing about 40 of 200 shows.



I’m only seeing three of eight shows titled ‘Initial *’ in PMS, the others are not scanned…

Each show has it's own folder at the top level where Plex is scanning, one file from each folder (The first two only contain one file).
I'm pretty much Mac-only, so that's what my filenames are adapted to, but there shouldn't be any fancy accents or anything.



Last folder in the pic gets scanned just fine.

And thanks a lot for the great work you're doing. I'd love to look at an AniDB scanner, but I bet it's above my level of proficiency :/

If you change the episode numbers to have two digits (e.g. - 01 - ) the remaining shows should scan fine.

So, I’m down to 14 missing shows. Major improvement :slight_smile:

It seems there is a bug (or a feature :wink: ) where a show is ignored if the names are too similar.

For example, I have:

This should probably go somewhere else, but it would be nice to be able to un-match shows. Currently I have shows such as 'Pimp my Ride', 'One On One' and 'Old Grey Whistle Test' in my Anime section and can't do much about it, since there is apparently no data for the actual shows. (But hey! With Plex.8 I didn't even bother to scan the anime :lol: )

I love your attitude!

The "scanned, but not shown issue" is because Alexandria is being a bit too smart, and merging those two shows into one. In the next version you'll be able to do this:

1] "Oh no, it combined my Lost show with my other (weird, lesser known) Lost show"



2] "Hmm, I'll split them apart"



3] "Finally, I'll fix the match on this one"



4] "Wow, that looks like an awful show, I should delete it!"

It would be nice with a line in the log stating that folder X has been matched with show Y (and one when two folders are combined into one show.)

That way, those of us with big libraries can just search the log and quickly find out what the missing show has been erroneously matched as.

Looking good, but there’s a slight usability issue: There’s no badges or other chrome telling me that a poster contains more than one folder. :wink:

Correct, it's an expensive operation (currently, at least) so we can't display it on the fly. Once you browse into the show in the media manager (something we'll be adding) it should be obvious from that :)

Sorry to reply so late but it's still not working. Unless I am naming it wrong, it still doesn't recognize it. What do you name yours? I even tried naming it with the German name "Dr. Seltsam, oder wie ich lernte, die Bombe zu lieben (1964)" like the user in the other thread did. It's weird that it's the only movie I have left that won't work. Even after the new update.

I also still have the same problem with Dr. Strangelove.

My file is named precisely as the IMDB title: "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.m4v"

When scanned, though, the title gets stripped of the . and the : and then will not match.

If I do a Fix Incorrect Match/Search and manually reenter the . and the : it gets matched correctly.

This is a minor issue but still a road block towards 100% perfection.

What's more: I don't understand that this is an issue at all since I use nfo files with IMDB ids (tt#) in them - I thought they would overrule matching based on filename?

Im having issues, for some reason since the update my kids in the hall won’t scan. It will show up in the media manager, but know meta data, no poster, no synopsis, nothing. Then when I go to the TV section in Plex and I scroll down, it will show Kids in the hall but no thumbnails and then when I click on it there are no files to watch. I have rescanned multitude of times, I have even changed the file names to be more accurate and nothing. Which is weird since before the update I had no issues, they showed up just fine. No other programs are having this problem, just the kids in the hall and the kids in the hall death comes to town. For some reason Plex is not a kids in the hall fan. What should I do.



I have the log here for it, I really have no idea what it means, still a newbie when it comes to this stuff.

I am not getting a single movie to import into Plex and they all are named to IMDB standards and scanned fine before. All I see are plugins in the main menu. Also, after I install a plugin, it never shows up.



This problem started ever since I installed the version of Plex that introduced the Plex Media Server.

I'm not sure why it doesn't match, the new search functionality we're adding definitely does, but for now simple right click, select "Fix Incorrect Match" and enter "75303" (which is the TVDB code for the show) and it'll show up fine:

Frank, I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble. However, without logs (as described in the first post in this thread) it's very hard to tell what's wrong.

I'm also a bit confused by your "all I see are plug-ins in the main menu" comment. Do the movies show up in the Plex Media Manager?

The movies do show up in Plex Media Manager however in the main application nothing shows up. I will gather those logs and edit this post to include them, sorry about that.
