In that case there might be a network issue. Please restart Plex and then post ~/Library/Logs/Plex.log. Sorry for the trouble!
Wasn't quite sure what part of the logs to post but here are some I found strange:

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I appreciate it.
Do you have any web proxies running?
Try hitting http://Frank.local.:32400/video and see what you get back.
Thanks!
I am having this exact issue. Was driving me crazy. I changes my NAS AFP configuration and decided to rescan everything anew and unlike my original configuration, the scanners were missing about 30-40% of my TV Shows. What? To simplify things on my changed config I decided to just use 'Guest' access to the file server. And now I have all these scanner problems. I will try to do a rescan with an actual user account and see what happens, but I think you guys have an issue here along the same lines as what the OP listed.
Hope that helps.

I got a blank page with the plex icon. I had a vpn running but I turned it off. By the way I have all my movies on an external drive connected the computer I am running the application on if that makes any difference.
The blank page, when view-sourced, should show you XML.
You can also from from the command line:
<br />
$ curl -v http://Frank.local.:32400/video<br />
I'd be very interested to see the full response.

That response looks right, although I’m a bit surprised that it’s actually connecting to “Jon.local.”
There must be something odd going on networkalogically, either a proxy or something else. Try this binary (replace Plex.app/Contents/MacOS and see if plug-ins and sections show up (I’ve just made it ignore the return content type, which seems to be empty).
I replaced the old binary with Plex-frank however the problem is still the same.
Please try this one, and look for a new line in the log “Got X bytes:” (and feel free to IM me (leafmunchersrule @ AIM) if you want quicker turnaround.
I got this for all categories.

Elan, just wanted to thank you, I did what you said and I even looked up the code for death comes to town and it works fine now, weird.
On a side note, i was just wondering if there would be anything added for like wrestling PPV’s and such, or an easy way that I can go about doing it? Thanks again.
Thank you very much for troubleshooting that issue with me. All my movies and plugins are loaded and plex did an excellent job of fetching metadata for some of even my most random named movies.
It turned out to be an issue with Bonjour. Can't say I am very knowledgable about Bonjour but after enabling debug logging found in the Plex application menu bar, Elan was able to walk me through troubleshooting.
Hello Elan,
I’ve updated to the latest version (.9.1.1) but still see the same issues as outlined in my earlier post Here:
Tracklists haven’t changed still only 3 out of 11 or 12 songs etc…
PS: How can i “correct” Album information (Nickelback’s “Dark Horse” Album is scanned as Daredevil? — this however was correct with the earlier Version of Plex .9 - ever hotter fix)…
thanks,
H
Hey guys,
I saw this Topic and a have the same problem. In my case the media server works fine and all the data for my media stuff was found correctly. But if I open up the main Plex-app, there are no Movies, no TV-Shows and no Plugins avaible. Nothing. I see the three categories (Video-Plugins, Movie-Plugins and Picture-Plugins) but not my self-made sections.
I read through different topics and there are so many solutions but nothing fixes my problem.
I run Plex on my MacBook with MacOSX 10.5.8. Plex 8 ran almost stable and I loved it, but with the update to a never version of 8, it bagan more and more to crash my hole system and I had to reboot every time.
Then I saw the new ninth version a few days ago and I really like the media-server solution (great work, keep it up!
) and I hope you can help me!

Hi,
actually I had the same issue since upgrading to Plex Nine on my Macbook (Movies and TV Shows dont show up in the main menu - only when manually added the path to plex media server to sources.xml, all is fine and movies and TV shows sections can be browsed off the local machine without any problems. Delete and reinstall did not help…).
After reading this thread and looking at it today I am now able to reproduce the behaviour. Seems somehow to be an issue with enumerating the network interfaces.
Try this workaround: Remove all network interfaces except one from the system preferences - network control panel (e.g. create a new location “Airport only”. remove ethernet, firewire, any dialup interfaces. also make sure no virtual interfaces are present - VMware for instance creates this kind of interfaces).
With only one active network interface, Plex is rock solid on my Macbook - Movies and TV Shows do always show up, even after longer activities, sleep mode, reboot and restart.
Keep up the great work!
Hope this helps with the fix,
Twinkelm
Hi all,
Like many others I also suffered the missing content. As covered by the topic.
My own MacMini keeps going, and going and going, like the Duracell rabbit, and I seldom restart it. But, when all other fails, a classic restart might be the simplest remedy. And Presto! Now everything works again.
So, If you havn’t already rebooted, try it
It can very well have been some issues with the NW interfaces, as hinted, so the real solution might have been with the renawal of the NW interface during the restart, dunno. At least it works.
Based on those errors (PLEX unable to communicate with PMS, PMS unable to communicate with itself) it seems like there is some bizarre network issue going on. My first guess is that maybe you have some sort of proxy running?
It looks like MacBook.local. is not resolving properly.
No, as far as I know there is no proxy runnning (in the system preferences is nothing activated). This Mac is almost 2 years old and there are a lot of apps installed, but just for one application I really don't want to reinstall Leopard.
Are there some programs wich can cause this problem?
Or maybe a port blocked by another app?
crownhead.
The scanner is picking up a 5 episode BBS mini-series called “The Buccaneers” aired in 1995 as a movie from 1956 of the same name. I’ve done a manual search to “Fix Incorrect Match”, but I only ever get the 1956 movie no matter what I search on. I am using the “plexflix” program to pull down my netflix instant queue directly into the media library. I have other shows and movies that are picked up just fine by the scanner, but this one isn’t captured correctly. Please let me know if there is anything else I should try or any other information I should post. I have had this problem with Plex 8 and all versions of Plex 9, including 9.1 that was just released.
