New to Plex having just moved over from the dark side… I’m moving all my data over slowly but whilst my Films show up just fine, none of my TV Shows appear to be doing anything. They appear as an icon in the Media Manager but there is the generic artwork and nothing inside, revealing the item in Finder is actually jumping to a specific file within the subfolder, I have, for example, the following structure:
/Volumes/MEDIA/TV/Planet Earth/Season 1/Planet Earth - S01E01 From Pole to Pole.mkv
Yet Finder jumps straight to Episode 11 for instance…
I’ve attached the log file below, but am a bit stumped… i’m aware that a chunk of my files will not meet the naming requirements as previously i named everything as /Planet Earth - 01 - From Pole To Pole.mkv, within the Season folder… i’ve renamed the above files correctly, removed the ‘TV’ folder from Media Manager and then put it back in - bit stuck for ideas now though. Can anyone help?

There is something evil happening in an agent, can you:
1) Restart PMS
2) Right click refresh a "gray" TV show.
3) Post the contents of ~/Library/Logs/PMS Plugins/com.plexapp.system.log and com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb.log ?

Thanks for getting back to me, it seems to be working now...
Between my reply and yours, I deleted the TV Shows folder (having seen the log info that said about reusing media items) and created a new one, i then dumped the shows in there. I also rebooted the Mac as i was moving it to its proper home by the TV - and now all seems to be well!
Do you still want me to post the logs as above - or is there no point now?

I’m having trouble with the ‘Grand Designs’ shows, which isn’t surprising given how many different versions there are.
LacieDisk/TV/Grand Designs Indoors/Season 1
was initially identified as ‘Grand Designs Abroad’. Fix Incorrect Match fixed that problem, but now I’ve added
LacieDisk/TV/Grand Designs/Season 10
and it isn’t showing up at all. I tried changing Grand Designs Indoors to Grand Designs in the hope that Plex was combining the two shows, and this would make metadata for Season 10 appear, but it didn’t, so I’m stumped.
We're going to allow you to enter the TVDB ID directly, hopefully that might help as a last-ditch match effort :)
Hey thanks very much for the fast reply, but I just figured out that the problem was caused by an unrelated issue with the mount point for the disk which prevented Plex Media Server from accessing the TV folder. So I owe Plex Media Server an apology for blaming my problems on it.

Seems I’m having a problem with “Dr. Strangelove”. I’ve tried both simple name like that and the extended full name “Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb” both with the year. When I say “Fix incorrect match” it shows an entry for “Dr. Strangelove”, but never fixes the entry to add the correct title, artwork, background or description.
Any ideas?
I have a soft spot for that movie, one of the first ones I watched with the girl who became my wife. I've fixed the bug, and I'll push it out as part of the next agent update, within the next 24 hours or so.
Plex fails to even list several TV-series, even when using the Home Movie Series scanner.
I added a new section:
Section type: TV Shows
Primary info provider: Home Movie Series
I forced a refresh.
5 out 8 series are listed. The 3 missing are Little Britain, BBC Planet Earth and When we left earth - the NASA missions. When using the TVDB scanner those 3 series are also not listed. It is as if they were invisible to Plex. Very frustrating.

Anyone here getting TheTVDB info for the latest Daily Show episodes?
the.daily.show.2010.09.13 (14 and 15) are on TheTVDB website but in Plex they are just called “Episode 09-13” for example.
Removing them from the folder and adding them again didn’t help.
All the older episodes are named exactly the same way and info is scanned without problems for those.
Dear all, this seems to be the most active thread on TV Shows not showing up.
Two questions:
- Has anybody managed to get “Earth: The Biography” scanned? Show ID is 83091
- Has the possibility to search TV shows based on TVDB ID been implemented?
Any help is appreciated! As a Plex “Control Freak” I hate having my library not complete
I'm getting the exact same kind of thing happening. In my case, I also have two versions of the same movie (see the log snippet below). Not sure why the "moving over" occurs automatically since it seems too aggressive a strategy for merging (after all, there are two separate files on disk and the names aren't close such as with stacked files).
For what it's worth, the way I handled this in Plex 8 was to scan both files to the same movie, then just manually rename one to tell them apart. When using XBMC, I used .NFO files to map them to the same IMDB URL but with unique movie names.
Glad to test out anything as needed!

The problem is that your shows aren't named with enough information for the scanner to (currently) be able to determine a season/episode for them. For example:

I've added that to the list of scanner enhancements, but until then, if you rename them...

BBC Planet Earth/BBC.Planet.Earth.001.Pole.to.Pole.avi<br />
…the absolute ordering code will kick in and they will get added.
Same issue with Little Britain, the names "Episode 1" aren't recognized. If you named them S01E01 or 001, that should work.
Ditto with When we Left Earth, "part.1" looks more like a stacked file than an episode. The following should all work:

001<br />
We'll make the scanner more flexible over time, but bear in mind that the more flexible we make it the more likely it is to pick up false matches as well.
