My Passport Wireless Pro problems

Yes, disabled that a while back. Just double checked it in case the Plex upgrade reset it, but no, it is still disabled.

The one thing I learned with this device is that when things are mostly working, it is just best to leave it as is and not be tempted to update. Our last vacation in December things worked fairly well…I last updated June 2017. Have you tried rolling back?

Hi guys,

Is it normal that WD MyPassport Wireless Pro tends to transcode nearly all formats but h164/AAC and cannot directplay MPEG2/4 to iOS devices?

The device does not transcode I believe. It can only directly play. I had to optimize by entire library using the preset for Mobile.

Not yet. I keep thinking they will fix more things with new releases, but that is not how plex has operated the past few years. All they do is add features and don’t address these kinds of foundational issues.

So how do you roll back a release? Do you have to manually uninstall and reinstall?

Now that I think about it I don’t think I was able to rollback. I restored to factory to start from scratch. From the file directory, I deleted the folder that had the version I didn’t want and then ran the update. Not sure if that is a safe way to do things

It does transcode ))) But very very slowly, because there is not proper hardware support, see my original topic. But it does. You can enjoy 200p from your 720p and higher sources, but I don’t think you’d like to) So optimization and building versions is the only practical alternative if you cannot handbrake it to the native format (h264/AAC). But if you can, you probably can as well (at the cost of mobility) install the PLEX server on your PC and use the WD MPWP only as a wireless storage for the server while your PC CPU will transcode real-time.
