since a month or so, Plex Media server on my Synology 1515+ just stop responding. I have to “stop” and “run” it again in the Synology package manager to put it back alive. And in fact, I need to “Run” it twice in a row because after a few seconds after the first Run , the Plex Media Server puts itself back as “stopped”.
I looked at the logs, but found nothing really explaining that behaviour. I have attached the logs; the latest issue occurred around 22:35-22:36 in the latest logs. I restarted Plex around 22:39 (I guess I only see the second “run” as explained above).
Can you help me understand please ?
(for the record, I always install the latest “public” version on PMS and I am on the latest DSM (DSM 6.1.6-15266 Update 1); the regular freeze started occurring 2 or 3 public PMS releases ago and I think that DSM got 2 updates as well since the start of the issue).
I just fixed some “unmatched” in music and TVShows. Seemed that those triggered a lot of “rescans”. This should also fix the “[Time] Failed to convert ‘1900-1-0 0:0:0’ to epoch” because an unmatched item has such an invalid date. The constant scanning seems to have stopped.
The MTU value was not set to manual hence Jumbo Frames should be disabled.
The issue indication seems to be linked to the “Error issuing curl_easy_perform(handle)”: that one I have no clue why it happens. Will see in a few days if the issue reoccurs.
Info: The timeouts and curl errors are because the system com.plexapp.system process appears to have failed sometime between 2018-04-16 15:28:03 (last log entry within com.plexapp.system` log files and Apr 16, 2018 19:27:45 (the oldest Plex Media Server log entry available)
So logs do not go back to the time when an issue arose that stopped the com.plexapp.system process from working
Basically all communication to com.plexapp.system process is failing
Hello sa2000, thank you for these additional clues. I will raise the number of logs to 20, restart Plex Media Server and monitor the behaviour. In case the issue appears again, I will check the logs and if needed, I will post the new logs.
BTW, is it normal that I receive the following when I stop/start Plex from the command line:
root@Rabozee-Syno:/var/packages/Plex Media Server/scripts# ./start-stop-status start
