My plex server don't want to read my mkv files

HI I have a problem, I have install plexserver in a raspberry pi 4 MKV and AVI files .
When plex was on my windows computer all was working but in the Pi mkv files and avi files are not reading.

Could this be a permission issue?

VLC reads using the permissions for your username.

Plex uses the permissions for its username

it’s plex, in group plex, by default on all Linux platforms (except Synology DSM 7 and QNAP QTS)

Yes but all the users and the groupes can read, write and execute all files in this disk and Plex (on the raspberry pi) can also reading MP4 files

rather than discussing, can you show me a directory listing (ls -la) of what works and what doesn’t work? Also, please detail where the parent direcyories are ? (are they the same or separate mounts?)

Also, are the MP4s and MKVs on the same physical volume?

Using Plex, attempt to play one of each file (only 20 seconds of each).
Then , after Playback is stopped.

settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs.

Attach the ZIP file it gives you here with your next reply.

No more guessing what’s wrong, we will find out directly.

May I see the Plex log files when you play a MKV which fails and when you start to play a MP4 which succeeds?

  1. Play , or attempt to play, one of each file type for 20 seconds
  2. If playback starts, stop playback after 20 seconds
  3. Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs
  4. It will present you a ZIP file
  5. Attach that ZIP file here with your reply.
