My ROKU BOXES HAVE PLEX INSTALLED ON THEM, BUT CANT'T SEE MY LIBRARIES

*pLEX INSTRUCTS ME TO SET INCLUDE IN DASHBOARD, BUT NOT WHERE TO TIND THIS SETTING. i’VE BEEN A PLEX USER FOR AROUND 10 YEARS, BUT HAVE NEVER HEARD THE TERM “DASHBOARD” USED UNTIL NOW. wHAT IS A DASHBOARD.

i JUST SEITCHED FROM PLEX SERVER 9.7 ON XP, TO THE CURRENT SERVER AFTER SWITCHING TO WINDOWS 7 (WHICH SUCKS COMPARED WITH XP). iS WIN7 THE PROBLEM, AND SHOULD i RETUMN TO XP AND PLEX SERVER 9.7???

DOES PLEX HAVE A LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF MOVIES IT CAN HOLD IN A LIBRAR?. i HAVE MY LIBRARY DILES ON A DEDICATED 3-TERRABYTE DISK. wITH4900 NIDUES AND 3,00 SONGS, THE DISK IS ONLY 2/3 FULL, IF EVEN THAT MUCH.

First turn off the caps lock. It is not necessary to yell to get attention.

There is no real limit on library size. I have over 3000 movies and over 500 TV shows with almost 30000 episodes and there are people here that make my library look extremely tiny.

I am quiet sure there will be some folks along that will be able to help you with your actual issues but I think you might benefit from rereading the Plex documentation.

Also there may be a need for you to provide log files:

as stated by Elijah… please drop the all caps unless you can explain the true meaning of Cofefe!

Dashboards

What is the Dashboard?

The Dashboard is the overview / homepage of the Plex Media Server which will display certain media for you to discover (e.g. recently added movies, recently watched, recently released…).

Where to configure if a Library should show up on the dashboard / deck?

When you edit a library (move your mouse over the library and click ), switch to the “Advanced” section and check/uncheck the option “Include in Dashboard”. Plex will only show content on the Dashboard, which has this flag set (so if you don’t want your home videos to show up on your TV when starting Plex… deactivate the flag!).

Windows 7 vs. Windows XP

better not get me started… I might end up trash-talking them both and promote macOS or Linux :stuck_out_tongue:

Limits

see Elijah’s post… no real limit to the library size. At some point you might want to think about how to navigate such excessive libraries – but Plex provides some great options to filter your content.

General remark… welcome back! You might be interested in looking into some of the release notes and see what updates you have missed in the last 5+ years (I cannot believe 0.9.7.0 is not even listed on the release announcement page)

Edit: typo

Since I understand Cofefe does that mean I can use all caps whenever I want to? o:) B) >:)

For the best explanation of “Cofefe” see most politician’s speeches and messages. Most of them do not know what they are talking about and they use typos and misspellings to hide the doom they are bringing upon everyone and, in spite of protesting to the contrary, they seem very much in league with the Antichrist so summoning him is almost obvious.

Sometimes trying to help people here seems sometimes like I am going cofefe. I think I know what I am talking about but it often sounds like high level gibberish on rereading.

As far as Windows vs other OS goes my advice is, as it always has been, do NOT attempt to learn a new OS just to run PLex. Plex works generally quite well on any of the primary OS that it runs on and people are best served using what they know.

OS vs. OS: agreed!
Cofefe: close but not spot-on… you’re hereby entitled to 1 all-caps post :stuck_out_tongue:
