My Visio plex app will not fast forward, rewind or resume from previous spot

Player Version#:Plex for Vizio 3.13.13
Vizio SmartCast version: 4.40.21

My Plex app for Vizio will not allow fast forward, rewind and will not resume from the previous spot. I’ve read through some of the older messages here but I don’t see any kind of resolution on anything. Does anyone have a solution or recommendation? Videos play perfectly well from the beginning but I don’t want to restart a movie that’s 2 hrs long that I’m halfway through.

When I stop watching something, the progress bar indicates where I’m at on the show but when I return to it to try to pickup where I left off, it loads the player and acts like it’s going to play, but the three little dots in the center of the screen soon disappear and the screen goes black for a few minutes then the following message comes up: “There was a problem playing this item. The video did not start playing in time.” with a “Go Back” button in the middle of the screen.

I can go back and restart from the beginning the same show and it works perfectly. However, if I similarly try to start the show and then fast forward to the same spot, it acts the same and gives the same error.

Unfortunately, the Plex app for Vizio is no longer being updated/supported by Plex. As you upgrade your Plex Media Server, the Plex app on Vizio will become less and less compatible over time.

The recommendation would be to get a streaming box or stick that includes Plex app that is still supported.
