Videos will not Resume from where they left off

Server Version#: 1.18.1.1973-0f4abfbcc
Player Version#: 3.13.13 (Plex for Vizio)

I have two different model Vizio tv’s and they both do this. Unable to resume videos from where they left off.

When I click Start, it will show the time for example 15:00 out of 30:00 total and then it will just start over.

What’s also annoying is if I pause a video it only gives me about 1 minute to resume or it goes back to the play screen and then I have to start over also.

I suspect that this may be an issue between server version 1.18.1 and older Plex clients that haven’t been updated in a while.

If you’re on Windows, it’s relatively easy to roll back the server to version 1.18.0 – would you be willing to try that?

It’s been happening for more than a year now. I’d have to downgrade a lot more that that. Who is in charge up updating the Vizio plex app?

Are you using any other Plex apps? It’s possible there’s an issue with the Plex database which may have become corrupt and not recording things like where you’ve paused, etc. If that’s the case, this support article will help:

Plex is responsible for updates to the Vizio app but I have zero information to share if/when there will be another update.

I’ll try that and check back.

I have a synology nas so it might be a little tricky for me

I am still having this issue. Can’t figure out why

I just updated from a plex server I installed about 2 years ago and never updated but just used, but database got corrupted so I was forced to do a fresh install. Before the database issue a few hours ago it worked fine. Now when I try to play something in the plex app, it just doesn’t play at all. But when I use the Android app it works fine and even Chromecast from the Android app works fine, but not on the Vizio app itself. Not sure why a server update would break the client playing.

Still having issues also
