I seen you on IRC when I was sleeping :)  Try back later.  I be there from now until 2-4AM EST (-4) except between the hours of 5-9.  Confusing enough :)  I find the best way (for me) to troubleshoot is interactive.

Soul: My (uninformed) guess: The "watch status" update message to PMS does not include the PlexToken...

Jason: There is an PlexConnect IRC channel, as well? You got to learn new things day by day...

I do remember making a post stating the watched status did not update with an earlier version on MegaHambone fork but I thought that got handled in the branch I was working on.  If not Baa is most likely correct; its something we can test for.

And yes baa, there is an unofficial channel (##plexconnect) on freenode.  Someone is parked in the official one (#plexconnect), I figured it was you.  You can always take it over though since the official one is not registered.

There are multiple? Woah. I have nothing to do with it, will check with f00b4r, though. He did a lot on that media work - I am more the technician, don't understand much of that stuff. :-) Or it's this .org thing, that I don't know what to do about.

What do you mean with "official channel", "parked", "take over" and "registered". I must admit, I have close to zero experience with IRC - at least during the last couple of years (15? 17? 20? Time flies...).

I remember back then - I think the "internet" was just born (same with most of you, probably :-) - I used the university's Sparcs/X-Windows to join some irc channels: mostly Acorn related. Those were the times. Good old Archimedes. RiscOS. ARM. That Basic/Assembler was just great. A3000 (ARM2, 4MHz, upgraded to ARM3, OS in ROM, 2MB?) still sitting in the attic.

Today I got a $99 aTV to play with. Wonder how RiscOS would run on that thing. Well, well...

Anyways, even then I didn't fully get the IRC "robot" stuff, others were playing with :-).

Ah - my bad. Guess I hijacked this nice thread. Sorry for that. :-D

None of the IRC channels are us or people affiliated with the PlexConnect team.

We use a different medium for our private communications.

I don’t even have a BNC anymore as it is rare that I am on IRC nowadays.

Where in PlexConnect does it update watch status when playing a media file.  If you could just point me to the function that handles it, that would save me much time trying to figure out the code :)

On freenode, which is for developers, an official channel is one created by the developers of an app, say you and is identified with one pound sign (#plexconnect).  An unofficial channel is one set up by someone other than the developer (me and is identified with 2 pound signs; ##plexconnect).  If someone creates an official channel who is not the developer, the developer can request control of the channel.

I use freenode, as do alot of other developers since its eaiser (IMO) to interact with people quickly that way.

@Baa,
My ATV shows up under the list of devices in 'myplex' but if 'require authentication on local networks' is ticked under PMS advanced settings then PlexConnect ATV cannot get a response from server.

Should authentication be working??

Can anyone confirm if authentication is supposed to be working yet using latest plexconnect and plex pass PMS?

Still no dice, Sir.

Yes, it should, shouldn't it? At least with local servers.

You can not yet access media on remote/shared servers, though.

Those PMS updates are directly send form aTV, the code is within application.js. Unfortunately though, there is so far no knowledge of the Token... so the necessary changes will be bigger.

Hi,

No not working here with local server and a user I have shared with.

Not tried logging in as the same myplex user as PMS though.

My error, authentication with local server using same log-in as PMS user name is working.

Not working though for a local based user I have shared my PMS with.

Ok, the sharing stuff is not yet in there...

Any word on this? Tried the nrgaway branch but that doesn't give me indepent watch states either.

Would love to implement PlexConnect at my parents, but I want them to have their own watched/unwatched states..

Is that part of the thing that's in the works? Or is there another branch I could try?

It is in the process of being implemented; if you look at the commits on Github you will see this is being worked pretty hard.
