Cheers Plex community,
first off: Plex is awesome! On the iPhone it’s just the bomb.
When I realized that there was no windows client I immediately decided to develop one
Because I’m a big fan of MediaPortal for media consumption and didn’t want to start the gui stuff from scratch I built a plugin instead of a full blown standalone software.
I’m also ready to release a preview build but** need permission to use the Plex logo** (completely credited to it’s rightful owners - who is that anyway?).
MediaPortal is a non-profit 100% free and open source project - the plugin I’m about to release as well of course.
So is it possible to use “logo_256.png” and “logo.png” from the PMS installation path in my plugin?

Anthrax
basically what I want it to use for is this:
Very nice! Great work!
You hereby have permission!
(And your project looks awesome, PM me if you’d like access to a dev chatroom).
What is this plugin going to do allow us to watch tv in plex??
it will allow you to access your Plex Media through MediaPortal. This way Windows users get access to Plex (they allready can this through the XBMC plugin, this is an alternative option)
nice to hear from you.
My plan is to release a first preview build (mpe1) to the communities later today to kick off the first feedback/suggestions round.
I'll keep you updated when that happens.
I'm still having a lot of questions about the transcoding api though which I can hopefully clarify within the plex forums.
Yeah RockStar is absolutely right it's basically a rip-off of the XBMC-plugin ;-)
It's good to have options though. I'd just love to have this within MediaPortal as this is my MediaCenter of choice and I'm quite sure the MediaPortal community would love to have this as well. (let's see what happens when I let everybody over there know what I'm up to)
I would really love to see the whole Plex ecosystem grow end evolve even more as of now it's one hell of a sexy looking piece of software. And as stated before on my iPhone it's just awesome (it kicked a whole bunch of competeing apps off my phone the second I gave it the first spin! Period!)
regards and greetings from rainy Germany,
Marcus
well i think these plugins are great. they introduce plex to allready large user bases. so good work!
It's a WHAT!!!!!
:-)
Good stuff - Plex shows that its a heterogeneous world. I think it's great that we can choose different solutions to match different hardware and pockets.
Any questions and I'm sure the devs and community will help out.
Oh hippojay,
you almost gave me a heart attack! ;-)
anyway check this out: [[Preview] MyPlexMedia - A PlexMediaServer Browser (0.5.0 Alpha)](http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/mediaportal-plugins-47/preview-myplexmedia-plexmediaserver-browser-0-5-0-alpha-97743/#post758188)

Have fun,

I just tried to install your plugin for MediaPortal (1.1.3.0) and i get the following error when trying to configure it:
“An error occurred while loading the plugin file MyPlexMedia.dll
It’s broken or incompatible with the current MediaPortal version and won’t be loaded.”
Any ideas?
Hello Dreadix,
well actually yes, I have an idea ;-)
This is MediaPortal 1.2.0 BETA only... (it'll be finally out soon anyway - I used the beta for quite a while though and had no hiccups)
cheers
Anthrax
Nice work!
I got it up and running, i can see my TV/Movies with covers, but when i enter a movie/tv it says “Cannot create submenu”
Any clue?
Hey there,
time is a bit of an issue for me right now...
But since Plex released new features to its Media Server just a few days ago I'm planning on incorporating these and then release another version which should adress your issue as well ;-)

Hello,
Bit off topic question and I apologize but Have you used MCE7 on Windows? I tried installing MediaPortal and it was quiet simply pain. Think it’ll be simple to port your plugin to MCE7 ?
Well wally007,
I have used MCE7 for about 10 minutes. Then I went straight back to MediaPortal ;-)
I don't know your setup, but the new MediaPortal installer worked flawlessly for me on quite a few occations (friends, family, etc...)
And quite honestly I'm neither capable nor willing (;-)) to do a MCE plugin.
BUT you or anybody interested may have look here:
http://code.google.com/p/myplexmedia/source/browse/trunk/#trunk%2FPlexMediaCenter
I kept the Plex-API seperated from all the MediaPortal stuff, so the Plex part shouldn't be that hard anymore...
C'mon MCE7ers we need you!

Hi Anthrax - just found your code. I don't use MediaPortal, but do use GBPVR. Questions about your code, when you try and play something, are your asking the plex server to play it/transcode it, or are you finding the server path and pulling the file directly from there?
Being MP I suspect that the latter option makes more sense and your MP client will be more than capable of playing anything it needs to with no transcode.
I'm thinking of trying to adapt your code to add a GBPVR plugin to do just that.
Hi everybody,
just a little heads up: over @ http://www.team-mediaportal.com/extensions/htpc/myplexmedia
is a new Version of my MediaPortal plugin (it even makes use of MyPlex now
And while I’m at it - might I congratulate everyone on the Plex-Team and say thx for all the new goodies!
cheers,
Anthrax
Hey there,
It's really sad that MyPlexMedia seems to be no longer developed.
Does anyone have any alternatives for integration with Mediaportal?
I'd even be happy with a reasonably user friendly way of switching between Mediaportal and Plex Home Theatre.
cheers,
flipdee
Wasn't there some start an integrating the PVR functionality found in xbmc into the plex media centre?
Also, while it wont help you too much, I do have a nextpvr channel - nextpvr is like media portal - a windows based free pvr. It's an option. But I understand it would be a major change to you.
