However, I’m not sure which of those methods, if any is the best to use. Also, should I set this up as Movies, TV Shows, or Other Video? Does it really matter?
So the folder structure and naming convention are for things that are going to be pulling MetaData from either The Movie DB, or The TV DB. You should be placing these into an “Other Videos” collection. Since it’s a class with numerous lessons, I would go the TV Naming convention route, just to keep myself organized… But you can set it up however you want using the “Other Videos” choice
if you use “other videos” you can view by folder which is simple enough.
You can use a TV library but use the personal media shows agent, so it does not try to get online metadata. The only issue is I’m not sure if that folder stucture is already defined but if you want to use TV, the issue is the way TV is expecting to be named
/ShowName/Season 01/Showname S01E01.mp4
which you could do as translate to
/Calculus
/Season 01
//Calculus S01E01
you would need to embed the lesson name in the mp4 so the local media agent can pick it up as it will not read from filename, or edit metadata in Plex manually. Esle it will get a generic “Episode 01”
