Naming Doctor Who Specials

I’m looking for suggestions on how people handle Dr. Who. I know that TheTVDB has the proper listing, and they have the specials in Season 0. On most series, I add the DVD extra as Season 0. So I guess I have 2 questions:

  1. How do you handle the DVD extras (like the Confidential files) that aren’t specific “Extras” that TheTVDB lists;
  2. How do you WATCH Dr. Who, as the Specials are sprinkled throughout each season?

There is no “right” answer, I’m just looking for suggestions.

I only have the new series (2005), so this applies to that. I don’t keep extras from DVDs or Blu-rays on my Plex server, so I can’t really give advice for anything that isn’t listed on TVDB. Because of that, I just have the specials in season 0 as TVDB has them.

As far as watching, I’ll watch everything in order by air-date. While Plex will not queue things up correctly when it comes to the specials (why, I have no idea), it will still offer the correct next episode by air date for on deck, so you don’t need to look up which special is to be watched when.

I only have the new (2005) series. I put all the specials in a folder named “Season 0”. I look up the episode # on TVDB and prior to the title I put 0x###. This has work out well for me.

Yeah, I know all that. But not only do I have the authorized specials, but there are a lot of other extras (Confidentials, etc.) Those do NOT have TVDB episodes.

Also, I forgot that you can have them playback by date, and not by episode number (Episode number doesn’t work since you have to keep going back and forth between the Specials and the regular episodes.)

(By the way, the word “Heist” is spelled wrong in your screenshot.)
