Last time I was whining about Doctor Who, someone pointed out to use The TVDB DVD order and someone else suggested putting the prequels in as pt1 and episodes as pt2 files, and that’s worked GREAT.
Now that those are done, I can fine-tune my whining to the specials.
-TVDB DVD order doesn’t list specials at all, so there’s none of the good stuff.
-I’ve also noticed that Plex will pull down episode titles from MP4/M4V files but not MKV.
Any suggestions? I can definitely live with this but I’m just being obsessive, not that that ever happens with Doctor Who fans or Plex users. THANKS!
What “specials” are you missing on TheTVDb DVD order? It seems the special episodes are assigned to regular seasons (e.g. special 148, The Husband of River Song is listed as s09e13 in TheTVDb DVD order).
It seems there’s a bunch of clips like The Inforarium which aren’t listed in the DVD order. You could consider those as local extras (e.g. shorts or featurettes for their respective seasons).
As for embedded metadata – that’s correct. Plex will only read embedded tags from mp4/m4v/mov containers.
The episodes are all things listed in the Specials category that don’t really fit. Things like Attack of the Graske, some animated stuff, the Blue Peter kids’ scripts, Five(ish) Doctors, and An Adventure in Space and Time. I’ll move The Inforarium & Rain Gods over, and try to cobble together a fix for the rest.
