@ChuckPA
Here’s one for you fella…
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200220687-naming-series-season-based-tv-shows/
Any idea on how Plex would handle a S03E26-S04E01 scenario where an episode spans over seasons?
No I haven’t plugged it in yet, will soon, just thought I would ask to see if you have encountered it before…
@OttoKerner Would you have a *nix command to do a split? Bearing in mind its MKV x265…
MKVtoolnix is also available as command line tools for Linux.
But you’ll have to find out the parameters yourself.

Actually I would just name the file S03E26 in the season 03 folder without the first episode of the next season indicated in any way and then start the Season 04 folder with S04E02. Plex does not care at all if episodes are skipped.
Of course you can split the file and have each episode named correctly in its proper season but, to me, that is just more trouble than it is worth. It is easier just to name the episodes the way I have indicated.
@GoingGaGa
Been super busy today. Sorry for the delay.
Great advice here already.
Split the file if you’re, ummm, ‘exacting’.
and make sure to follow how TVDB lists it. Things like ST: TNG “Best of Both Worlds” had multi-season parts. They did keep the episode numbering correct.

Thank all, yes I split the file, but copied the original into Specials and annotated description of split files to say go watch the file in specials… great advice all around, thanks!
