Guys, on my synology nas device - I was able to play 4K movies and everything without a problem, just from today I keep getting the error:
This server is not powerful enough to convert video
Any ideas what needs to be done? This was working just yesterday! I uninstalled, reinstalled, stopped service, started, rebooted the NAS device and everything.
Moved to appropriate location.
Would need more information (NAS model, logs, etc.) to be sure of the cause, but based on your symptoms/comments the most likely answer is the video you are trying to play requires transcoding.
Since you don’t have Plex Pass, you can’t take advantage of HW transcoding and the CPU in your NAS is too slow to handle SW transcoding in real-time.
Previously it sounds like your client (browser/etc.) was able to DirectPlay the file which doesn’t require transcoding so the CPU didn’t have to do any heavy lifting.
