NAS Mac Mini suggestions

Hello Folks,

New to the Plex world/ecosystem, and I just got an awesome Mac Mini as a gift and would like to use it to create a Plex server. The specs on the mini are:

Processor: 3.2 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB
Internal 512 GB SSD.

Now I know that I will need more storage, and this is were I could use suggestions/tips. I would like to enable remote playback on the server for the random occasion that I am away, and want to watch something. I have a lot of 4K content that (I am fine with having to convert media), and everything will play on Apple devices (clients I believe is the correct term. 4K Apple TV, iPad Pro 11 inch, and iPhone XS). Are there any NAS devices that anyone would recommend, or even specs I should consider if I go the build you own route? I’ve seen a bit regarding playback issues on AppleTVs with 4K content, and not sure if that is more of a format thing or not.

Thanks for any of the suggestions that are offered.
V.

I had external USB 8TB drives that I recently converted into this:

It’s a DAS (Direct Attached Storage) instead of a NAS. I didn’t see the need for more variables in the equation. Used SoftRAID to make it a RAID 5 box. Works well.

Thanks for he suggestions, going to definitely check this out. Do you view 4K content yourself?

Not now but working towards it. Seems that 4k is a minefield of video & audio options to line up correctly.
