Hi, I am relatively amateur so forgive any daftness in my question!
I love PLEX and run it from a synology nas device. It works pretty well but can be slow at times and im wondering if upgrading to plex plus helps performance in any way? I find slowness with connecting to the server using my ps4 or apple tv devices.

Turning off dlna support, thumbnail generation and scheduling maintenance to happen when your asleep helps. Also pre optimize your content for direct play back.
If the Syno only has 2 GB, definitely increase memory as best you can.
Most 64 bit systems are good for 8GB (2x 4GB modules).
This helps a lot because Linux can cache the data so PMS doesn’t have to constantly get it from the disks
