Anyway I am writing because I want to install a later server version on my QNAP manually.
The problem is as follows. My NAS TS-228 is of the QNAP TS-X28 family, which comes with
an ARMV7 chip for the TS-128 and TS-228 and some intel chip for the TS-228A.
However when I go to the download page and click choose a package the TS-X28 is listed next to ARMV8 . I am not aware of any TS-X28 NAS with ARMV8. Is this a mistake?
Which package should I download to run on my TS-228 ?
I have the TS-128 as one of my QNAP development machines.
You want ARM 64 bit (aarch64)
Hello,
I tried downloading the aarch64 file which is linked with the label ARMV8 (TS-x28, and TSx-32) series and installing it manually using the GUI on QNAP. It attempted to install and then failed with the log saying the package is not compatible.
Then I tried downloading the file ARMv7neon.qpkg labeled ARMv7 (TS-x31+, TS-x31P, TS-x31P2, TS-x31X, and TS-x31XU Series) and that worked and as far as I can tell is running fine, which makes sense because the TS-228 is running with an ARMv7 chip.
So is the TS-128 which you are using though and it seems the aarch64 build installed for you.
Either trying to install the .aarch64.qpkg using the manual install process for qpkg files was the wrong approach on my end and by using the armv7neon.qpkg build I am running a build that is not recommended for my hardware, or the file I downloaded is the correct one and the TS-x28 label needs to be moved accordingly.

I apologize if I made an error
TS-228 is ARMv7
