NAS via local network

Server Version#: whatever

Why can’t I configure PLEX on my Nvidia Shield to see my NAS - server content? Why do I need to install YET ANOTHER media server, on my NAS - which yours isn’t even supported by the way. Oh I’m sorry, it’s a few years old.

I have a dozen apps that can see my NAS/Media Servers without any issue, why do you have to be different? IS your app so special that you just can’t do what everyone else’s does? Is it because you need to share with the world what I have on my NAS? Or with the MPAA? Or the government? Why do you have to invade my privacy? No wonder it’s “free”.

No thanks.

I’ve read all of this, multiple times. This is so far beyond maddening. I have spent 15 HOURS on this and you have the nerve to say I have attitude?

I went through upgrading both app and server from the play store. They don’t work, without going into the Web App to connect to my Shield storage and setup my libraries (only found this thru Nvidia’s support boards). This would be great if I could use my Windows pc/browser, but the whole point is to get this working on my SHIELD. The browsers and Shield remote are woefully inadequate for this…downright painful.

  1. Why do I need BOTH an ANDROID APP and a WEBAPP to setup my libraries?

  2. Why does PLEX require me to navigate into a WEB APP (completely painful, as noted) to do ANYTHING with my libraries? The Android app alone can’t even see anything - it’s useless.

  3. Why does PLEX CRASH my Shield (brand new) when scanning? Latest install from Google Play store for both app and server - ?

  4. Whey does PLEX report it can’t get a secure connection to my Shield when it’s worked 10 times previously, (then crashed)? Somehow this magically starts working after another reboot.

  5. I have to re-connect my NAS network storage after every crash. Then I have to navigate - painfully - thru the WEB APP to get to anywhere where I can even ATTEMPT to connect to my libraries. Then…see #4 above…

  6. The last time I WAS able to connect to my NAS library it got 80% through the filelist and never progressed from there…until it crashes of course. I can see everything perfectly from my Windows laptop. Perfectly.

  7. It appears my Shield requires a hard boot now…yet again…third time. Thanks for that.
Looks like 7 hours wasn’t enough for it scan. And it included lots of folders that were in no way specified. I’m asking it to scan again. This should be good.

  8. I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to scan my music folders…That will likely take a few days, and come back with the wrong folders. Can’t wait!! So look forward to getting up to babysit this web app in the middle of the night…and reboot my shield a few times when I find it completely FAILED.

How do you get away with calling this a supported platform?

Am I supposed to be using your Web App’s Download software link, which offers the option of Linux - > ARM? Should I not be trusting the Google Play store downloads? Because frankly there’s no nice way to say this. This SUCKS.

Would you like to come scrub my floors for 15 hours and then let me test YOUR attitude?

Plex not only doesn’t function anywhere close to how it should, It actively disrupts my network storage connections on my nvidia shield. I Had no issues before installing this software. It now renders every other media application I have to not function since it destroys my network storage connections. I thought this might be an nvidia issue, but it’s not. I have to constantly re establish my network storage connections and log in to them Over and over again. Whereas if I just kill your app and server everything goes back to functioning perfectly. The software should be banned from the Google store for this platform. Obviously you won’t hear anything of value from the support team here so I hope others will read this and benefit from my trainwreck of an experience with this software. Stay away, Don’t let them steal days of your life trying to figure out what’s going on with your system. It’s all them, like monkeys with guns.
