I would love an option in preferences to set the bottom navigation bar to ‘always visible’.
I notice that when I’ve maximized the currently playing album, it goes away. From an esthetic viewpoint I can understand that it looks beautiful, but from a usability perspective, it’s not so great.
I have to click the down arrow/caret before I reach to the possibility to navigate back to the home screen.

Have you tried disabling the preference Advanced -> Show Full Player?
It’s not exactly what you’re asking for, but it might achieve what you’re after.
Agreed with @aubrey.wodonga; I don’t think having the nav bar present works with the player idiom, because (if you haven’t noticed) the player is a sliding pane.
I understand the concern. My thinking was that the player could slide from the bottom bar and not over so that the bottom bars remains.
I like Plexamp a lot but something in its design makes me have to do one action too many to get to my content while I’m playing music.
But I’ll admit that Spotify and Apple Music have this problem too.
So maybe it’s an unsolvable problem.
or maybe you need to adjust your expectations 
per simon’s comment, you can leave the player minimized if you want immediate access to your library.
Hahaha that’s a difficult thing for a designer 
. Things can almost always become less activity flow blocking.
I have already deactivated the auto full size. As per Simon’s suggestion. I’ll do with that for now.
