Need advice on a NAS and a Router

Hi,

My first post here, thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Recently I decided to play and stream all my movies from PLEX using Apple TV 4 and store all my data on a NAS device and run everything from that.

I need to be able to transcode full blu-ray 1080p movies, possibly to not more than 2-4 devices and at the same time I would like access to the NAS to play my music too from my MacBook (FLAC-Mp3 mostly).

Most of the movies I’ve got are mkv ranging from 10-35GB with full 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound.

I have looked at several NAS vendors and I liked the QNAP TVS-671-i5-8G: Quad-core Intel Core i5-4590S 3.0 GHz Processor and would like your advise on this.

I hope you can also advise me on a router that I can use that would fit the above.

That should work well.
AND do a search as there have been at least 3 other posts in the last month asking about plex servers and nas.

Hi there,
I am considering buying the same 671 i5 model than ayyak. My only question is : how does it compare with the more recent 673 ? Everybody seems to lean towards this newer model but at the same time the passmark of the 671 i5 is much better (7k instead of 4,5). What’s your thoughts ?
