Another boring question aboiut which NAS to use?

I moved into a new house that has a nice home theater. I am using a new AppleTV for content, but I have a 3-4 TB library of movies that I would like to access as well. I dont have time at the moment to watch a lot of content and in general try to keep everything as simple as possible for the family.

Can someone recommend a NAS that will support transcoding and has a built in HDD, doesn’t need to be more than 5TB and that play nice with Plex on the ATV?

Thanks very much, I imagine this question has been asked many times.

Normally ready made NAS servers like the synology can run plex but can’t really transcode very well unless you get the higher end models. These can get cost quite a bit but you could build your own cheaper and more powerful if you have some computer knowledge. In this case I would suggest running an unraid server. I have been running one for years and works very well. What I like about it is that I can mix and match drives when I need to add more space.
