Need assistance on how to fix title of TV seasons

When I click in each season of a TV series it always says ‘Season 1’ even though it is Season 3. My folder structure was F:\TV\The Sopranos - Season 3\The Sopranos Season 3 Disc 1_t01.mkv. I changed it to F:\TV\The Sopranos - Season 3\Season 3\The Sopranos Season 3 Disc 1_t01.mkv. The problem is when I changed it and then saved the changes via Manage Libray, this removed all of the episode titles, summaries, etc that I had manually put in. Is there a way that I can do this without removing all of this. Is there something in my original folder structure: F:\TV\The Sopranos - Season 3\The Sopranos Season 3 Disc 1_t01.mkv where I can change it to say Season 3 instead of Season 1 or if I change folder structure can I keep the epiode info that I manually typed in? Also is there a way to automatically include info for each episode without manually typing it in?

Both of these are very wrong

each individual show needs the own show folder at the top level F:\TV\The Sopranos because the show is called The Sopranos, not The Sopranos Season 3

under that should be the season folders then the episode files in the correct season folder and the epsodes file need the correct S03E01 notation in naming

F:\TV\The Sopranos\Season 03\The Sopranos S03E01.mkv for the season 3 episode 1 file for example

When editing the library the only folder that needs to be added is F:\TV

The TVDB agent (which is the default agent for a TV library) should be able to grab all the episode info fine

like this

/data4/media/tvarchive/The Sopranos (1999)/Season 03/The Sopranos (1999) - s03e01 - Mr. Ruggerio's Neighborhood [x264 DTS 6.0].mkv
/data4/media/tvarchive/The Sopranos (1999)/Season 03/The Sopranos (1999) - s03e02 - Proshai, Livushka [x264 DTS 6.0].mkv

Thanks for your help on this. I fixed all the folders to F:\TV\The Sopranos and each season has it’s own folder inside of that directory.

After fixing that, I tried using TVDB agent and it really didn’t do anything. I click match, the Match box comes up, I see ‘The Sopranos’ listed and then click the TVDB in the dropdown for Auto Match.Does it take a while or am I doing something else wrong?

it should happen fairly quickly unless plex processing a lot of other content (ie scanning in a whole new library)

did you fix the filenames too?
The Sopranos Season 3 Disc 1_t01.mkv isn’t gonna work

No I didn’t. I’m updating now. What about Season 6 Part 1 and Part 2. Is that folder Season 061 and 062 and are the episodes S061E01 and S062E01?

You should not need to click automatch assuming tvdb is already the primary agent for library. just click on Sopranos in the list.

each episode should be its own file, and each file should be named according to that episode

this is the only part of the filename that matters
The Sopranos (1999) - s03e01.mkv

this is extra info for you, if you wanted it in the filename
The Sopranos (1999) - s03e01 - Mr. Ruggerio's Neighborhood [x264 DTS 6.0].mkv

you might want to check out some of the automated file naming tools, like ‘filebot’

This didn’t work.

My folder structure is F:\TV\The Sopranos\Season 03\The Sopranos S03E01.mkv

give this a shot if still not working. The Plex Dance ™

OK now I’m confused BigWheel said it needed to be like this:
F:\TV\The Sopranos\Season 03\The Sopranos S03E01.mkv

and

now you’re saying it should be like this:

The Sopranos (1999) - s03e01.mkv

I don’t understand. What should I use to get this correct. This is really frustrating and I’m getting different answers from different people and none of it is working so far.

This is what I have the folder structure:

F:\TV\The Sopranos (1999)\Season 03\The Sopranos S03E01.

I did a match and selected The Sopranos in the Match box and nothing happens. The episodes aren’t updated.

Either way is fine. The important part is the S03E01

sorry for the confusion.

is your library pointed to F:\TV\ < correct

or F:\TV\The Sopranos\ < not correct

F:\TV

I was able to get the titles in by going to TV > Manage Library> Advanced tab> changing Agent to The TVdb. This at least updating all of the episode titles. Some summaries and other tags but not everything.

you probably need to ‘refresh metadata’ at the library level in order to pull the rest.

I can’t remember if you will have to ‘fix match’ manually for stuff that was previously matched to the previous agent, but if the full refresh metadata doesn’t do it, then that I what I would suggest next.
