Need help Casting without constant buffering issues

I cast content from my syno server via my android to my chromecast device.

If I watch a movie via Plex directly on my phone or laptop, I have no buffering issues. And until Plex, I had no issues casting to my TV via chromecast. Oftentimes when I cast via Plex, my movie periodically stops at certain sections every second to buffer, making it impossible to watch a movie. I’ve set up Plex to downsample or degrade the quality of media in order to play continuously, but that did not solve the problem.

Is there a reason why Plex has this issue with Chromecast? What specifically is the issue and how do I solve it? Thank you.

Synology model?

You are forcing a video transcode by doing so.

The CPU in the Synology is most likely not powerful enough to transcode the video in real time, which is why you experience buffering.

You can monitor playback via Plex Dashboard → Now Playing + Expanded View to see if the video is transcoding.

The thing is, it works perfectly fine on my phone or laptop, so if it was transcoding, wouldn’t it cause the buffer error there as well? It only causes problems with Chromecast.

If the CPU is struggling with this, why is the issue only apparent with Chromecast and not via my laptop or Android?
