Need help with Live TV on Mi Box (Android TV)

New user to PlexPass - but not to Plex. I just set up my system for Live TV and DVR, I am using the XBOX One Digital TV tuner (Drivers installed), my Plex server is on a Windows 10 Pro - Intel i5 PC (running 1.8.0.4109) and my Plex client is a Mi Box - Android TV (running 6.3.2.1332). All that I get is a spinning circle after pressing Watch (this channel); it shows that it has tuned to the station. The DVR function is working perfectly - no issues. I would appreciate any help.

so I just posted this same concern yesterday - several other Mi Box users agreed LiveTV, but not other playback, was broken on Mi Box with latest Plex Android TV app - though it worked previously. I also saw Android mobile users with the same issue - though it works fine on my mobile phone - Android mobile just got Live TV support this week, but must be broken there for some devices.

So here is maybe some good news - I just got the box yesterday, and am mostly experimenting with it, so I flashed the “beta” Nougat build you can find on XDA forum (google it). Not for the faint-hearted, as you can’t go back to 6, as I understand it, or apply any 6 patches as it is 7.0 - but LIVE TV NOW WORKS! Try it at your own risk. The xda forum details what is “broken” in the beta, which mainly looks to be stuff that was broken on Mi Box on 6. I have not used it musch, but Plex working as expected.

Well, well, well! It just so happens that I have two Mi Boxes, one on 6 and the other on 7. It did not occur to me to try the Mi Box with Nougat, but after doing so, I find that you are correct. Live TV Works! Thank you so much CCihon.

I kind of suspected it would work on Nougat devices, but not Android 6.x devices through my testing :

Nexus 7 2013 (6.0.1) doesn’t work.
Nexus 5X (O DP4) works.
Mi box (6.0.x) doesn’t work.

I read reports that it was working on the Shield TV, which has Nougat officially already) and also reports that it didn’t work on many 6.x devices.

Plex must have changed something and only tested Live TV on Nougat devices for some reason so this bug slipped through.
